Sugar rush again

When KOI first started in Toa Payoh, there are not many people buying. It was quiet compared to the Ya Kun opposite. Then suddenly it reaches the tipping point and now you see many people waiting patiently for their drink. When I first saw KOI, it reminds me of the bubble tea stall that I see in Taiwan. That stall has the same concept of choosing sugar level. Indeed it is the same company whom someone bought over the franchise and brought it to Singapore and renamed it as KOI. To be honest, when I first try it, I thought it was too sweet and until my kind colleagues told me to try "less sugar 70%" , I like it after that. It's also interesting to see how bubble tea come and left and come back Singapore again. I wonder how long this will stay. It might be staying for good as I don't see other clones yet.

So I order green tea milk with pearls ($2.40) and is given a number 684 to wait for my drink. What makes them popular I guess is their pearls (sago) that is soft and chewy. But ... there is a fight for this bubble tea .. the stall in my earlier blog post titled "Taiwan in Singapore" (http://followmyfooddiary.wordpress.com/2010/05/03/taiwan-in-singapore/). This stall's bubble tea is as good as KOI and you got to try it.

For all KOI fans, there is a Facebook Group too and you might be interested to join. (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?v=wall&gid=88731477472)

Bliss Level: High
