Porridge that worth 30 minutes' wait

I always see a long queue at Maxwell market "Zhen Zhen" porridge which got me curious how good is their food. I thought the queue is considerably short today and decided to give their food a try. Normally I won't try porridge on a hot day like today. In the end, I waited 30 minutes just for a bowl of porridge which is why you see more pictures taken in this post because I had lots of free time. One of the reason for the slowness is because there is only lady chef who cook 2 bowls of porridge at a single time. Their stall is only opened from 5.30am to 2.30pm (See one of the photo).  My colleagues and I are skeptical on how could earn much with short opening hours and the turnover speed is too slow to generate cash.

By the time, the other colleague finished her meal and half of drink then my long awaited porridge arrives.I ordered century egg porridge ($2.50-it comes with chicken) and raw fish plate ($3). I was swearing that this porridge better be good. After the first mouthful, I got to admit it is good. It tastes better all the others I have eaten. All I could say is you got to try it. They give a generous portion of century eggs. The other must-try is the raw fish esp for those who love it. Again, the taste you got to try it. They cover the stench with fried spring onion, ginger, lime, spring onion. The fish is fresh and soft (but be careful of soft bones) and tasty together with the fried spring onions.

The only downside of eating porridge on such hot weather is feeling sweaty after that. One thing to note is my colleague who didn't stir the porridge as he eat maintains the stickiness. As I eat further and because I stir, the porridge becomes watery but it still tastes good.

This porridge is ranked no1 in my best food in singapore list. :P

Bliss level: High
