Now I feel slightly better that I can blog about good food again. :)
Today I have decided to try out Ah Loy Thai at Shaw Tower. It is a small eatery and is often packed during lunch and dinner hour. I waited ard 15 mins before I get a seat. The real wait is the food as it took more than 30 min. Since I cannot wait for hunger, I resorted eating white rice first. I was grumbling to my husband that I don't want to eat here again. Finally the crispy fish and tapioca leaves came! After a bite at the fish, I told my husband I take back my words. It is very rare to eat such fresh and soft fish meat at a restaurant. The fish is very well cooked and reminded me of the steam fish mum cooked at home. That's explain why there is such a crowd. I am now more forgiving as it sure takes some time to cook fish. I also love the spicy and stir fried crunchy tapioca leaves.
In total, fish costs $9.40, vegetables at only $4.00 and the rice costs $0.60 a plate. There is no service charge or GST. This is even cheaper than the Cze Char stall near my house. Therefore I strongly recommend everyone to try especially those who are willing to wait.
I will come back again to try pandan chicken and tom yum. If you have tried, feel free to leave a comment abd share your experience too.

I realise i probably need to put more mayo so that the egg won't fall out. The problem is I use a normal knife and hence makes it hard to cut off the sides of the bread. Actually I find it quite a waste to throw away the sides. Hence do let me know what else I cam do with the sides.
I let my family tried and all said good.

As you can see from the tomatoes, I am a lousy cutter. I tried to cut slices but find it hard to cut the small leftovers so I just left it as chunks. :P
I notice this little outlet at the corner because it has more customers and on closer look, the food look interesting. It is very different from the typical Japanese restaurant. It's a home cook food stall. It explains why I see a few Japanese at this place. Out of curiosity, I decide to check this place out and was served by a Japanese lady. I ordered Buta Shabu udon ($7) which I presume it to be pork udon dry. When I tried it I love it immediately especially the companion sauce that has a peanut and mustard taste. The udon isn't the thick type you ate restaurant. What makes it nice it is oiless and is very healthy. I also tried Burdock Apple salad ($2.80) and found out what is Burdock. It is a kind of root that is commonly used in Japanese and Korean cuisine.
I strongly recommend you to try out this place.

There is also pool table that you can play for free. As the light is very dim, we experimented using my iPhone 3g phone and nokia n70 flash light to take the food photo. Photo turn out much nicer with flash light. 4g iPhone should come out fast.
As for the fish and chip, it tastes the same as any other fish and chip except this is greasier.

There is never ending queue at this Fishball Noodles stall at Toa Payoh Lor 5 Food Centre. I am serious that there is always a queue and not sure why too. By the way, this hawker centre has so many good food that is worthy to talk about that I will cover in future. I ordered dry Kuay Teow Fish Ball for lunch. I must say they are generous in giving the fishballs away (3 meat balls and 4 fish balls). What makes this stall's Fishball Noodles yummy is their chilli, fishballs and meat balls that are hand made. Unfortunately this isn't my no 1 fishball noodles stall. I will introduce my heart's number 1 in future. But I still recommend you to try as their fishball noodles are yummy still that I ate everything and left nothing behind.

Again it's another tiring day that I knocked out after I reached home on a Friday night. I woke up late enough and decided to go somewhere near for dinner. Oasis is located at Toa Payoh Park which is opposite HDB hub. This Oasis is the famous Kallang Oasis that have shifted to Toa Payoh. It is opened at night until 4am, especially meant for supper lovers. Oasis is famous for their Taiwanese porridge cuisine. I am a porridge lover, especially Teo Chew style. When you just woke up, a bowl of porridge helps to warm the body and quench thirst. This dinner shall be a vegetarian one because I felt I have eaten too much meat for past few days. I ordered bean sprouts and craypot beancurd.
Their porridge comes in a big flask pot with customised cover that has a hole for the scoop. Their food is good. The stir fried beansprouts with salted fish was yummy. I was surprised by the quality of the craypot beancurd. They use real beancurd unless most Zi Char stall that use egg beancurd. Beancurd was soft and the soya sauce that accompanied it was savoury. I thought the zi char stall that I often ate was good but their food is even better. Needless to say, all dishes are wiped clean. Only negative point is their food isn't cheap. A dinner with 2 dishes already cost $31.
